Thanks for the list of States with no income tax. Sadly, not many would fit my preferences:

  • Alaska - Too cold, too much and too little sun, and too many bears. Just too many too's to deal with.

  • Florida - Too humid, too many bugs, snakes, crocs, etc to worry about.

  • Nevada - Too dry and hot.

  • South Dakota - Too cold.

  • Tennessee - Not quite sure where that is.

  • Texas - I'm afraid of rattle snakes and Texas is just too full of them.

  • Washington - Most suitable for me in the list, similar to OR weather (great summers, but miserable rainy winters with little sunlight).

  • Wyoming - Too remote, though very beautiful. Have driven through it once.

  • New Hampshire* - Too tiny, and don't they have the tick problem?

Will just have to wait for Hawaii to get rid of its state tax. Till then, we can move next door to Washington state and live in Hawaii part-time as a tourist. Would have to figure out how to transport our dog with us. Maybe take a cruise over, but then I've seen too many cruise disaster documentaries on Netflix.

PS: Really disappointed that Hawaii has state tax, esp. given it has a large tourism industry to generate its revenues from. Why tax the nice people of Hawaii who already have a high cost of living?
