Sysco Corporation ( SYY) faces some union pressure after over 1,000 drivers and warehouse workers in Northern California and Nevada ratified the first-ever regional Teamsters contract on Wednesday. Notably, the four-year agreement delivers a 34% wage increase, bolstered pension contributions, top-tier Teamsters health care benefits, and increased safeguards against unsafe working conditions and automation threats. The union deal covers members of Locals 137, 533, and 853.

The deal with the Teamsters emerged after a credible strike threat compelled Sysco ( SYY) to bargain more seriously, according to representatives from the Teamsters union.? Teamsters Warehouse Division Director Tom Erickson hailed the development as a "landmark agreement" poised to serve as a template for future Sysco negotiations nationwide.
