I also remember when anti-vaxxers were treehugging, back to nature types. All natural and gluten-free. And PETA and fringe environmentalists were against medical research.

Ideologues live on a circle. The fringes overlap. They also tend to be authoritarian, in an odd coincidence no doubt. Sometimes the leaders flip back and forth. Mussolini was an ardent socialist before he saw fascism as a quicker path to power.
