Sorry, meant to say "viable" 5G modem. The settlement was Cook's transparent attempt to buy time. Q knew that and signed up anyways. I suppose there was not unreasonable hope that the Apple team would fail. But my expectation at the time, contrary to other better informed sources, was that Apple would succeed. After all, Huawei did it. Ditto Samsung. It's a matter of resources you are willing to invest, and time. May not be as good as a Q modem, but likely good enough.
