ChatGPT at some point needs to make money.

GOOG AI doesn't. GOOG can give away their AI service for free (they already do) and so, who's going to pay ChatGPT for what GOOG offers for free? It's the same way MSFT killed most competing desktop apps. Just put the same app (or good enough) into Windows for free. Voila, competition dead.

We'll see. My kids use the internet much differently than I do. So down the road GOOG perhaps has to worry about how young people access the internet. But YouTube is pretty dominant in it's role.

I think Meta is the one that may be in trouble. Facebook sucks. I'm suprised no big tech company has come up with a social media competitor that gives users much more control over what we see in the feed. Facebook inundates me with ads so much that I no longer use it. And I think as I use it less it shows less personalized content by my FB friends and more ads, so I want to use it even less. Or maybe my friends are not posting content, I have no idea because I can't control what the Facebook algorithm decides to show me.

I'm surprised no one has created something similar to Facebook, but allowed the users to regulate COMPLETELY what we see rather than having the algorithm decide. Surely some company can make money facilitating connections between people without selling ads.
