He did not”promise” two trillion. He said he thought they couod find a trillion.
Here we go again. The only way to deal with MAGA is with the facts.

Musk was on stage in 2024 answering a question from Nutlick, "How much can you rip out of the budget?"

The answer was "Well, I think we can do at least $2 trillion, yeah."

Of course, later he lowered his goal to $1 trillion, but even then, he couldn't even get close to that. Cato could only verify $63B back in April, and it's unlikely that DOGE found anything more than that:

Either way, Inode, Musk overpromised and underdelivered. He has a habit of doing that.
