I spent $ 4000 on extracting a raccoon that got into the attic through a hole in the siding created by a woodpecker. It got back in through an attic fan and then into the house from the attic by way of a bathroom fan. As the article said, they will keep trying to get back in since they would be chased from nests by other raccoons and hunted by foxes, I had recently replaced the roof and had to have the gutters and the roof vents shielded as well. They caught two or three raccoons. I had chased one of them out of the house when it dropped in through an opening it made around the bathroom ceiling fan.
