Here we go again....

I woke up this morning to pounding rain and heavy winds. Southern BC is forecast to get another 40-80mm of rain in the latest atmospheric river. And temperatures are at record highs in a number of locations, meaning melting snow will join the rains on already saturated ground, making the risk of floods, avalanches, and landslides very high. Most of the highways to the interior had reopened, but several have been closed again due to the risks.

Oh, and over 20k BC hydro customers are currently without power.

What is behind all this steering of systems onto the south coast is an outbreak of polar air, leaving large areas of northern BC with dangerously cold temperatures, with the wind chill reaching -50 at times. That will kill you in minutes.

Quite the fall we are having...
