AMD 2nm done Samsung?
AMD stock jumps on Samsung manufacturing agreement talk

Story by William White20h

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) stock was up on Monday alongside reports that the semiconductor company is close to signing an agreement with Samsung (SSNLF). According to these reports, AMD would sign Samsung Foundry as a manufacturer for its next-generation 2nm chipsets.

While the deal hasn’t been officially announced by AMD or Samsung, insiders claim it could be finalized sometime in January 2026. The reports also claim that AMD is considering Samsung as the manufacturer of its future chips due to the increasing costs of working with TSMC (TSM). However, the reports also noted that AMD won’t completely switch away from TSMC and will instead split its manufacturing to support increased demand for its chips amid the artificial intelligence ( AI) boom.

If these reports are true, it means AMD has joined a growing list of companies that have turned to Samsung for processor manufacturing. Both Apple (AAPL) and Tesla (TSLA) have sought agreements with Samsung, which could be signs that its Foundry business is making a comeback as tariffs hamper TSMC’s appeal.
