AUSTIN, Tex., Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- -- SI Diamond Technology, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: SIDT - news) today reported that its wholly owned subsidiary, Electronic Billboard Technology, Inc. (''EBT''), has announced that Texas Digital Systems, Inc. (''TDS'') has begun commercial production with an initial 60-unit run of its AccuVIEW(TM) electronic display, utilizing Electronic Billboard's proprietary technology. Texas Digital's initial production run follows the successful completion of an exhaustive product beta testing.
The original purchase agreement between EBT and TDS has been revised to that of a royalty agreement. In connection with this agreement, TDS has agreed to pay a royalty to Electronic Billboard Technology for each display installed at a fast food restaurant. In order to maintain the exclusivity of this agreement, Texas Digital Systems has agreed to a minimum of 3,000 installations through May 31, 2000.
''We recognize the tremendous potential for our LCD-based technology,'' stated Marc Eller, chairman and chief executive officer of SI Diamond Technology. ''And, the fast food industry is a perfect application for these sunlight-readable LCD displays. Basically, these full-color interactive displays tell you what you've ordered and how much it costs, so there's no need to deal with an inaudible voice over the box. These displays also provide a vehicle for creative full-color, point-of-purchase advertising.''
Eller added, ''As our relationship with Texas Digital Systems continues to evolve, we look forward to working together to expand our markets and develop new products utilizing EBT and TDS software and/or hardware.''
