Dog “rescue” – The games people play …

Since we lost a German Shepherd Dog (GSD) in June we have been semi-actively looking for a companion for our remaining GSD. My wife somehow (FB) came across a perfect sounding rescue opportunity for a 5 year old female GSD.; a potentially perfect playmate for our 6 or 7 year old male.

The final message from the current owner to my wife: “You describe the perfect home for our dog but there is so much interest in our GSD that we are now entertaining adoption $1,000 offers”.

At that point I took over the conversation from my way too polite wife which I can’t post here due to SI’s TOS rules.

Anyone even remotely familiar with GSD rescue efforts knows that this is one of the most difficult breeds to find a good home for. My guess is that this "rescue" ad came from a breeder.
