powerful and smart

Especially the smart (and patient). They're apparently learning some from their earlier heavy handedness ibn the road and belt initiative. It's been a while since I've heard of some country complaining about the arrogance of Chinese workers or extortionate terms on those projects, though some of the complaining might just be the client country's fault.

A well done R&B project is powerful soft imperialism, and much more beneficial and useful than a movie or a string of fast food joints.

Just in the last few days we saw the US practically abandon EVs. China takes the lead into the future as we become a nation of tailpipes.

Eventually, but not for a while yet, the yuan will replace the dollar, and the US will lose the seignorage that lets it get away with its national debt. Once it does, the US will be the next Argentina. I suspect that their elites were also in inappropriately low tax brackets the last few decades. The current regime is speeding up that timeline.

If the Chinese had a democracy, the world would be more accepting. And I'm not sure Mandarin (never mind Cantonese) will ever replace English as a lingua franca.

Happy holidays back at you.
