Inode,
Sure, the most recent accomplishment is the first credible EV that drives itself using computer vision.
About that. Mark Rober already demonstrated how a self-driving Tesla failed the Wile E. Coyote test:

This video, of course, drew a ton of controversy, especially from Musk worshippers like you. Meanwhile Tesla already fixed their software to look for this.

But here's the thing. They programmed their software to literally look for walls that are painted like Looney Tunes.

That's the thing. Using nothing but optical cameras is a Sisyphean task. Without so-called AGI, programmers would have to code in every possible scenario imaginable, including from the imaginations of vintage animation.

Tesla can save themselves a ton of time by installing a couple of LiDAR sensors on their Robotaxis, whose costs have come down considerably. But Musk is obsessed with trying to prove that current optical AI is up to the task.

And despite your assertions, Robotaxi remains far behind Waymo. I see Waymo all over the place here in the Bay Area. No Robotaxis.

A more sensible tech leader would have acquiesced and gone with LiDAR while continuing research into fully optical self-driving vehicles.

But nope. Elon is sMaRtEr and richer than the rest of us. He'll prove us skeptics wrong, AMIRITE?
