Goldman Sachs says the CPI numbers are going to be useless until April because of the housing component having no inputs in October due to the government shutdown.

Rents get surveyed every month, with each respondent reporting once every 6-months. That means the normal October survey members will go 1-year between reports, with their last report noting no change.

Housing is 40% of the CPI, so this is a big deal.

The report also said gasoline went up, which was not the case.
