Ukrainian forces have likely attacked tankers belonging to Russia's shadow fleet in the Mediterranean. The ships reportedly carried the head of Russia's military intelligence service, GRU General Andrei Averyanov, considered one of Putin's closest confidants – according to Russian media.

His deputies were also reportedly on board. A total of seven people were injured, and two died.

Preliminary information suggests the attacks may have been carried out by drones launched from maritime bases.

Andrei Averyanov is a Russian intelligence general accused of espionage in other countries, sabotage, explosions, and the use of drones in the EU. He is also alleged to have blown up Prigozhin's plane in Russia and poisoned Skripal in the UK.

We await official confirmation.
