Maria from the floor: Merrill Lynch going "against the grill", but the street is saying oil drillers going higher. Maria at HAL post with a big crowd in front of it, looking higher with Dressler (about 45/sh), HAL (looking about 46 1/4). Strength in both stocks on news of deal. Merrill lowering estimates (not a major deal). They think E&P stocks have bottomed, but over near term, estimates have been cut. JRM and MDR are suspected as being the next candidate for taking someone else over and looking higher on news. MDR also looking higher becuase of high cash on the books and potentially could buy someone out. BC
