We made an unusual second trip to a movie theater this year to catch "Hamnet" before it quickly vanishes from local screens in favor of holiday blockbuster fare.

My wife had read the book while I had not; it works both ways, a sensitive but sad drama that offers a possible new insight into the Hamlet story.

Recommended for historical movie buffs.
