I don't know about trucks, but the only low compression, 2 bbl 396 was a one year only option offered in 1969 full size Chevy cars.

The Chevy L66 396 cubic inch engine was produced in 1969 and featured a two-barrel carburetor, producing 265 horsepower. It had a bore of 4.094 inches and a stroke of 3.760 inches, making it a reliable option for full-size Chevrolet models
