Trump administration ‘breaking the law’ over Epstein files

telegraph.co.uk

<snip>

Donald Trump’s administration is breaking the law by failing to release the full Epstein files, the congressmen behind the legislation have claimed.

Ro Khanna, a Democrat, and Thomas Massie, a Republican, claimed the material released on Jeffrey Epstein on Friday contained too many redactions and protected the identity of “rich and powerful men” complicit in the paedophile’s activities.

Mr Khanna claimed Pam Bondi, the US attorney general, could be prosecuted or impeached after “obfuscating for months”.

“The justice department’s document dump this afternoon does not comply with [Republican congressman] Thomas Massie’s and my Epstein Transparency Act,” he said in a video posted on social media.

A document from a New York grand jury has 119 pages “totally blacked out”, with no explanation for the redactions as required by the act, even though a federal judge had agreed to its release, he said.

Likewise, a draft indictment implicating “other rich and powerful men” who either watched or participated “in the abuse of young girls” had been suppressed, he claimed.

“Thomas Massie and are exploring all options,” Mr Khanna said. “It can be the impeachment of people at Justice, inherent contempt, or referring for prosecution those who are obstructing justice.”
