| | | Freshly ground flax seeds for high blood pressure.
I experience unacceptable side effects to most BP meds, and the ones I tolerate are not very effective for me.
For years my BP has been higher than my doc likes it to be, mostly in the 150's, even when taking multiple meds for it.
After attending a presentation at a conference, my doctor recommended I try freshly ground flax seeds, 4 tbsp/day.
I split that up into 2 tbsp, twice a day.
It works for me.
I'm getting readings in the 120's and 130's now, where I was usually in the 150's.
If you try it, use whole flax seeds, not pre-ground, and a cheap whirling blade coffee grinder.
Grind them, put them in a small glass of water and drink it.
I actually kind of like the whole-grain taste of them, so It doesn't feel like a chore to drink it.
It's important that they be freshly ground, and ground finely.
You can hear a change in the noise they make in the grinder when they are ground finely enough.
At first, the blades hitting the seed hulls makes a sharp SSSS sound.
As the seed hulls get broken up, that changes to a more muted soft SHHH sound.
It takes less than a minute and is not very messy. |
