The big problems for hybrids is water vapor condensation in the ICE.

The biggest problem for those ICE engines is if they start up and only run for a few miles and never get up to full operating temp to evaporate off all the water vapor that condenses within the engine itself (think crankcase) and the exhaust system.

This was a big problem with the 1st generation Prius and subsequent hybrids.

Water vapor, just one of the products of combustion of all ICE.

To drive most that moisture out of the ICE you need to drive it for at least thirty miles.

This applies to all ICE vehicles.

Pure BEV's of course do not have that problem.

You will not see large hybrid vehicles, especially with cheaper electric propulsion displacing fossil fueled trucks and large semis today.
