Faith needing (seeking?) proof isn't faith)
I think a person who has faith may still have the intellectual curiosity to seek proof.

But, beware of what you seek, for if such proof is found, there would be no need for faith. And what is religion without mystery? Which is why, I think, if a religion is for real, there can be no proof - and looking for it is futile. I think that being totally rationalistic - or atheistic - also involves an act of faith.

From what I’ve read in philosophy (in my younger days) - it appears that every method of understanding of the nature of knowledge requires a belief in its basic principles. Eventually, everyone accepts something - and every time, deep down, that is an act of faith.
