In the event of military conflict between US and Fill in the Blank, the USA would want control of Greenland and so would its opponent. The war, if one occurs, might well be fought in Greenland itself. Some type of joint arrangement is worth negotiating for by virtue of its location. Doesn't mean we have to own it, or even control it, we would definitely have to control it in even there were an ordeal involving Russia, and we can't really have any arguments about that.

Trump clearly can see that and could from the moment he took office the first time.

You kiddos who want to have a cow about it can just do that, but you're just standing in the way of carrying out our usual protective roll.
