Pretty awesome. Love looking at that kind of video. I don't know how I missed your post with it.

I almost drowned in Oahu when the big breakers came in early January. Having lived at the Atlantic shore in New Jersey all my life by then (age 19) I didn't have the respect for their waves I needed when I walked into the water to body surf.

Though they were not anywhere near the size of the ones in the video, about 25 minutes later I was being rescued by the lifeguard. I had gone out too far and was so drained afterwards from fighting the undertow I could only sit on the beach with my Air Force friends the rest of the time we were there.

They told me they had started discussing during those minutes how they were going to tell my parents what happened to their dead son. :) In fact, I heard that everyone on the beach was standing, staring out at me rising up on those (to me) monsters then disappearing behind them as I was being dragged out.

I was the first rescue of the day. It was on a surfboard, but afterwards I watched a helicopter hauling fellow unfortunates out of that water for the next couple of hours. The helicopter had been called for me, but it was too busy a couple beaches over at the time to get me.
