IMO, it’s a mistake not to have serious conversations - and even disagreements - in front of the kids. Especially, about political issues and conflicts. One of the “teachers” who had a serious influence on our kids was… Bob Grant. Back then, my wife did most of the driving - and Grant was always on, blasting his opinions and (anti-Left) criticisms. We haven’t even noticed - until we became aware that they’re pretty well informed about a variety of things.

People have this view that children should be allowed to “enjoy their childhood”. That’s very true - but developing an interest about the world around IS part of growing up.
