Justin Trudeau appeared to be finding comfort in family as he marked a milestone birthday amid noticeable silence from his new romance with pop superstar Katy Perry.
The former Canadian prime minister turned 54 on December 25 and took to his official Facebook account to wish followers a "Merry Christmas," sharing a sweet, candid photo of himself alongside his children.
The festive post doubled as a quiet celebration of his birthday, with no mention of his high-profile girlfriend.
He shares three children with his estranged wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau.
The former couple welcomed their eldest son, Xavier, in 2007, followed by daughter Ella-Grace in 2009, and their youngest son, Hadrien, in 2014.
After 18 years of marriage, they announced their separation in August 2023.
Then, romance rumours between Trudeau and Perry first began swirling in July 2025, when the pair were spotted enjoying a low-key dinner date at Le Violon in Montreal.
By September, the relationship appeared to be heating up, with the duo photographed sharing public displays of affection aboard the Roar singer's yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara.
Their relationship went fully public on October 25, when they were seen holding hands while leaving the Crazy Horse cabaret in Paris, where they were celebrating Perry’s 41st birthday.
Notably, while the politician was present and supportive during Perry’s first birthday since they began dating, the favour didn’t appear to be returned.
She made no gesture or public acknowledgment or tribute of Trudeau’s birthday, his first since the couple went public, choosing to remain silent as he celebrated Christmas Eve and his birthday with his children.
Earlier this month, however, the Fireworks singer did make the relationship Instagram official.
On December 6, 2025, she shared a carousel of intimate photos and videos from their trip to Japan, featuring cosy selfies and a clip of the pair enjoying sushi together.
