Let's be pragmatic. Without going into what is right and what is wrong, what we do know is the US really sucks at the nation building thing. We've had going on 150 years of repeated attempts, pretty much all of them being dumpster fires. Aside from WWII and South Korea, short term and often profit driven concerns wind up driving the efforts. And that leads to massive graft and corruption with a heaping spoonful of nasty, authoritarian regimes. From the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli. We have left a trail of broken countries, but lined the pockets of the elect few... Yeah, I know. This time will be different.
