I'm thinking of the more modern tests in hypersonic weaponry, like what China did 4+ years ago that made headlines:

DARPA had done some work as well within the last 15-20 years analyzing extreme high speed with a hypersonic test vehicle (the sustained heat and friction burned the skin off their HTV).

Regardless, it's an interesting topic. One better suited over some cognac or a cappuccino (or whatever is your choice).
