Too late for Alberta, very soon the U.S. will not need unprocessed Alberta sludge.

Cheaper high quality heavy oil will come from Venezuela.

All the U.S. will need from Canada is potash and uranium and neither come from Alberta.

Potash and uranium comes from Saskatchewan, not Alberta.

Elbows up!

"Hewers of wood and drawers of water" in Canada refers to the historical and ongoing reliance on natural resource extraction (like forestry, oil, minerals) for the economy, a term famously coined by economist Harold Innis in 1930 to describe Canada's economic identity as a resource supplier to more developed nations.
