I know of many couples that lose sight of the fact that the purpose of life is to be happy. They end up arguing over nothing. There's nothing wrong letting your spouse win even if you are right.

For example, my wife complained that I put the teaspoon back in the drawer without rinsing it and now her coffee tastes like tea.

Now I could have told her that I did rinse it, but that would extend the argument. Or I could have pointed out it's impossible to taste any tea residue in a cup of coffee, but then she'd argue I am wrong.

So instead I simply apologized and said that I did not think she could taste the tea after I licked the spoon clean.
