price hikes of 10-20%

Most of with Win 10 are anxious to keep the old boxes alive as long as possible. A 10-20% price increase after years of relative stability isn't too bad compared to the general cost of living over the past decade, even though 8-16 GB of memory isn't so great anymore. But few want a box with Win 11, and 1 year old computers rarely need replacing, so demand will shrink next year. Maybe that'll keep prices honest.

I'm no longer physically capable of building a desktop. so , when my machine dies, I hope to find one with Linux independent of Windows. One possibility:
