CJ, zoom in on the noose in this pic.

It looks entirely functional to me. It's a braided line, at least 1/2" in diameter.

That line would have a tensile strength of about 7500 lbs

It's tied to the beam above, you can see it comes down from the beam, makes the loop, then wraps around itself, and is secured with a hitch at the upper end of the wraps.

If weight were applied to the inside of that noose, it looks like it would slip shut, just as intended.

It would definitely do the job.
