Well, the Checkers near my home has disappeared, and few people
went to it even when it was here. I remember the stock's heydey
about 4 years ago, and am mildly surprised at its fall, but I
didn't invest in it then because I never saw anyone at the
restaurant. Also, I am wary of all restaurant stocks because of
the dynamics restaurant stock seem to follow once public. Expand,
Expand, Expand. Oops, profits slipping. Cut costs. Cut more costs.
Cut too many costs. Oops, customers don't like us anymore. Close
underperforming restaurants. Stock falls as charges are taken and
debt is accumulated. I'd also be highly suspicious of a restaurant
trying to reinvent itself financially without reinventing itself
on the menu.
