Don't look now, but SCHD is on a bit of a roll, with a 10%+ gain since Oct. 29. Over that same span, VOO is flat and SCHG is down 5%.

While we've held some shares since last March (those are up just 4.3%), I built out the position aggressively between November 14 and November 24 - over 2% of total brokerage assets in four separate purchases. Those buys are up 7% to 8.25% here.

I tend not to trade my fund holdings much, that move was part of a strategic shift to finalize the portfolio shape (and income) ahead of retirement. So I'm not planning on trying to game that one, really just observing that the market has broadened over the last few months to include a lot of stocks that had previously been left behind. That increasing breadth is fundamental to my bullishness here. Narrow markets are often a sign of economic malaise and in many cases are followed by bear markets. The broadening market is a sign of an economic recovery from what was a pretty bad year for many companies.
