What was the name of the Australian company that produced the
engine, and how many were produced? It looks like a swash
plate probably replaces the crankshaft. I have seen hydraulic
motors and pumps that used swash plates. The stroke of the pistons
could be altered by changing the angle of the swash plate. If this
is the case, all of the pistons must be inside of a rotating sleeve
that incorporates all of the eight cylinders. The sleeve would align
at regular intervals with the intake and exhaust ports, explaining
why there are only two exhaust pipes.
