Schmidt was asked about further cost cutting

No rounds of layoffs or even less dramatic cost cutting moves are contemplated was the answer.

The questioner asked why given the revenue declines over the past year the cost cutting wasn't more dramatic. The basic answer was this is all we can do.

All of the cost cutting this quarter was concentrated in the R&D budget. Presumably you can do this in the fix the bugs stage of
a products development. I trust they did not get rid of the product designers in this cost cutting move and did this cost cutting intelligently.

Basically there was no discussion of further cost cutting moves. They have done them.

Novell hasn't supplied me with the details on product revenue and geography. I'll wait until this evening for a response and then make my comments.
