I saw officers warn the agitators not to interfere. One woman who had been near the ICE vehicle and gotten scolded had wandered near Pretti, out in the street. She was blowing a whistle and not following orders to get herself out of the street. She was pushed hard by the ICE officer who was following up on making sure she complied, because she was not fully complying. She fell over when she tripped on a snow berm. Pretti came over to help her up and was pepper sprayed. He had also been previously warned not to interfere. Pretti was trying to pull the woman to her feet and resisted the officer after he was pepper sprayed, so he was swarmed.

It looked to me like his gun was taken by ICE while he was being pummeled and swarmed. I've seen various reports on how the shooting started, but it is starting to look like the very first gunshot was accidental. The officer who pulled his own weapon had clearly seen that Pretti was armed. It looked like after the first gunshot, Pretti was uninjured and had reached back to his concealed carry location. That's when the defensive shooting started.

I think Pretti had his cell phone in his right hand the whole time. He may have intended to only check his weapon after the first shot. I doubt he was going to shoot anybody. But he shouldn't have been there and resisted while armed. His parents gave him good advice. Too bad he didn't follow it.
