The US is terrible at funding their educational system, and it is outrageous what they charge for college.

The most important thing we need right now is free pre school for every kid in the nation, at 3, with a hot meal.

Rich kids and children of academics enter kindergarten two years ahead of poor kids, because rich parents have the money to send their kids to pre school.

And we all know what happens then, the poor kids think they are stupid, and it is all down hill from there.

The next best thing, IMO is to strengthen the community college system.

Bush gave a fortune to banks by letting them lend to school kids, and backing up the loans by the government.

The Nordic countries have the right idea, educate everyone, and keep tuition affordable or free.

It is in the best interest of society to have an educated populace.

In Finland, among the happiest countries in the world, I think, it is illegal to charge tuition, so rich and poor go to the same schools.

AI: Yes, education is generally free in Finland at all levels (pre-primary, basic, secondary, and higher education) for EU/EEA residents and citizens, with no tuition fees, plus free school meals, materials, and health services up to upper secondary, though higher education students cover material costs and pay subsidized meals, while non-EU students face tuition fees at universities but still receive free basic education.
