I think it is critical that we all pour as much as possible in to early education and yes nutrition is also critical. The better educated the better off we are and the earlier we identify challenges the sooner they can be overcome. A great deal of both Canada and the U.S. pass kids right through school and they can barely read or write and it has been going on since the 90's when failing kids became a crime. The crime is not to step in and support rather than pass them on to someone else in the next grade.

Or kids would go to "trade school" but we got away from that because again in the 70's it was determined that everybody should have a university degree and that is what happened . Every body got their degree with little regard for the quality of education our Universities were conducting. They graded on the Bell Curve and kept lowering University standards so everyone could be accommodated.

Now there is a scramble toward our community colleges as they have been underutilized in our desire for everyone to have a BA or BSC. We need plumbers, electricians etc as there are shortages and now they are the last to be affected by AI.

Took awhile to change the outlook but those are honourable professions and with good schools presumably we can improve the quality of those and other trades.
