I realized that. I thought it was funny that it was being direct, but that's what I want. I like straight talk.
If the portfolio was set up where A.I. says, 'Are you losing your mind?' I'd be okay with it, in fact I'd pay closer attention at that point.
I had a salesman that was protesting something the company was supposed to give him and didn't, so he refused to go to work that Monday morning. It was an incentive week and when the Regional Manager found out the salesman refused to work, he drove down personally for a face to face with me present.
The Regional guy talked for about 30 minutes with salad speak sprinkled with compliments and criticism. The salesman finally stopped him from speaking and looked at me and said, what is he talking about? I said he's trying to tell you that if you don't get your a$$ to work, you're fired. The salesman said, why didn't he just say that? Now get out of here so I can get ready for work.
The Regional Manager said to me, you sure have a way of communicating with your people. I told him, straight talk babee, get to the point.
My people loved that approach because they always knew where they stood, no ambiguity. |
