I’m just one more voice here but this is what Moe’s letter means to me and also how I interpret it:

A. We will now focus on Only 3 Key Projects
Instead of trying to work on many things at once. These include:
  • Albany Graphite
  • ZenGUARD
  • Triera.
So the company is narrowing its efforts to what it believes are its strongest opportunities. Honestly I think most of us thought we were already there.

B. We are going to cut costs and reduce spending by reducing our workforce and facilities and also cut corporate expenditures. So yeah, we’ve got to be more sensitive about our cash burn rate.

C. There are some leadership changes (Colin, etc.). Does this demonstrate the shift in priority away from being IP-centric at times or is Colin now too closely tied to GF and we need to move on? But certainly it ties into cost cutting.

D. Zentek needs to be more transparent and accountable. This will take the form of clearer financial reporting, and will track the company’s progress closely in relation to each of the three core areas. So shareholders should have an ongoing clearer view of things.

Here is more about how I interpret the letter:
  1. Management is saying it will focus on fewer things and manage finances more carefully. For me that’s a bit of an acknowledgment of financial pressure and past inefficiencies.
  2. Because we are narrowing our focus and cutting costs, it suggests that growth has been slower than we all hoped. So we remain a moderately high risk investment.
  3. Moe is trying to be more accountable by promising us clearer roadmaps and reporting. I appreciate this. GF promised us ‘imminent’ big news pieces in the past and clearly we now know this was overly exuberant BS that we were continually fed. So I do welcome that periods of promises followed by extended silence and nothing burgers are over and should not be part of our future.
  4. Cost cuts and leadership restructuring can cause short-term disruptions, but as Moe states it’s being done to extend the runway and keep the company as financially healthy for as long as possible (while focusing on what management sees as the best chances for future success). But I do see short term pain in this ‘re-set’ in the form of a drop in price.

Just my two cents. A bit painful I know, but I’m still ‘all in’. Not selling, though I have about 10 grand on the sidelines and I’m also not sure about adding more at this time. All the best. Good luck to all.
