Let's not get carried away, I agree. The laboratory achievement does not mean that the KrF laser is useful in a production .08 micron tool. The ArF or F2 lasers now being developed by Cymer would undoubtedly be more appropriate in future production tools that are capable of meaningful wafer printing throughput. This is reminiscent of i-line's breakthrough sub 0.2 micron laboratory achievement years ago. It had to await DUV and all the ancillary supporting products like masks, precision adaptive alignment control systems, and lengthy development of fabrication techniques to make the first production DUV tool. I don't expect to see a sub 0.1 micron production tool in less than 5 years' time, and it will not have a KrF laser in it. But, it will be a Cymer laser nonetheless. <G> Tulvio
