Imperial Oil to shut Norman Wells site in NWT \| Calgary Herald "...Pumping crude since the 1920s amidst some of Canada’s most extreme conditions, Norman Wells was pivotal to fuelling the Allied defense of the Pacific Coast during the Second World War.... Tough to demonize that production. Had a few buddies who worked on that site, lived up there. Nail in the coffin for that community
