A series of Israeli airstrikes killed at least 37 Palestinians across the Gaza Strip on 31 January, with local reports indicating that most of the victims were children and women in attacks that occurred well beyond the so-called yellow line.

Among those killed were seven members of one family who were sheltering in a tent for displaced people in the Asdaa area northwest of Khan Yunis, while other strikes hit residential apartments in Gaza City and a displacement camp in Al-Mawasi, Khan Yunis.

A separate strike targeted a police station in Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, reportedly killing 13 people.

Sources told Anadolu Agency that most of those killed were targeted in areas located far from the so-called “yellow line,” beyond the zones where Israeli occupation forces remain deployed under the first phase of the agreement.

Palestinian Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal confirmed that hospitals received at least 31 bodies, most of whom are children and women, since dawn today, following the strikes.

“Shelter centers were targeted, tents were burned, and residential apartments were also directly targeted,” Basal said, warning that the situation points to a continuing campaign of genocide and urged mediators and the international community to intervene immediately to protect civilians in Gaza.

In a statement condemning the latest attacks by the occupation army, Hamas said that “ongoing bombardment across the Gaza Strip,” constitutes “a brutal crime” and a “renewed, flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement.”

The Palestinian resistance group stated that the continued “targeting of civilians – families and children – in their displacement tents” shows that the “fascist occupation government continues its brutal genocidal war against Gaza,” exposing “the occupation’s manipulation of the agreement” and its “disregard for the efforts of mediators and guarantor states.”

Hamas went on to call on guarantor states and the US to “take immediate action” to halt policies “aimed at undermining the ceasefire” and ensure its implementation “without evasion or procrastination.”

Israeli forces have committed over 1,400 violations of the “ceasefire” since it came into effect on October 10, 2025, killing at least 524 Palestinians and injuring 1,360 others.

According to the UN, the scale of destruction from the two-year genocide is such that clearing an estimated 60 million tons of rubble would take more than seven years, requiring substantial upfront funding for heavy machinery and debris removal.

Broader reconstruction is expected to cost tens of billions of dollars over several years to address urgent recovery needs.>
