High Points: 1. SSA appears to be poised for rebound after falling on difficult financial times. 2. Bolstered by fresh cash infusion from a convertible debt offering, SSA has been racking up some impressive wins against major competitors, such as SAP. 3. New users of BPCS Version 6.0 include Epson America, Phelps Dodge, Lucas Varity, Reckitt and Colman, and Powerfood. American Video Glass (joint venture between Sony Electronics and Corning Asahi) is using BPCS for its headquarters and manufacturing facilities for Triniton TVs. 4. In all, more than 1000 companies have purchased or have already installed SSA's new release. 5. Roger C. says SSA had 150,000 new seats of BPCS 6.0 purchased in 1997. 6. Article reports that SSA was ahead of the technology curve with its new OO system a year ago, but the package is gaining more acceptance (since SSA has demonstrated that it works). 7. SSA has beefed up management by gaining Walter K. from Informix for its European operations, and Bill S. from IBM (former GM of Sales for North America - hardware and software).
