Most of the issues my wife runs across in her work besides sex-work are drug-related and the power that addiction holds over people and their decision processes.

She comes home from work every day smelling like smoke even though she's supposed to be in a smoke and vape-free environment. I had that for about 15-years from the 80's to the 90's. Co--workers and customers. Anything you wore needed to be washed, and you needed to shower that crap off of you.

Her place lets addicts smoke and vape. They call it "transfer addiction", and they think it the lesser of many evils. It's reasonable.

I had a friend who had two genius level parents who both chain smoked. I think both are dead now, but I used to have to watch TV in their home lying on the floor to try and escape most of the smoke in the room when they were both there.

In a way, you could call it The Indigenous People's Revenge - getting everyone hooked on destructive tobacco.
