The problem with the analysts was that they did not remember the
past. No one can see the future. The past is 20/20. Down cycles
have occurred every time more capacity has come online or when they
have increased the wafer size. This time the DRAM market had both
occur at the same time. Micron is pretty close to being the last to
convert so when they finally change wafer size or build more capacity
then you know to get out or short. I know from this that the next
down cycle for the DRAM market will be when the industry as a whole
has converted to 300mm wafers (sometime time around 2001).
I really should be an analyst... Who here has ML's number they could
use a good one.
