Re: Charter Communications Inc (CHTR)
Looks like a good 5 year reversion to the mean play too. My quick look is +129% for that. More importantly, Charter Communications (CHTR) is the parent company that operates Spectrum, its brand for broadband connectivity and cable services in the United States. I am a Spectrum customer and received an email yesterday regarding a new WiFi (back-up) service:
Spectrum Invincible WiFi is a next-generation, all-in-one WiFi solution designed to keep your home connected during internet outages and power failures. It integrates a WiFi 7 router, embedded 5G backup, and an 8-hour battery backup into a single, automatic system—no separate devices or manual setup required.
When your primary internet connection fails—due to storms, outages, or service issues—Invincible WiFi automatically switches to its 5G backup network within seconds, ensuring your devices stay connected to the same WiFi network with no need to reconnect. If the power goes out, the built-in battery keeps your WiFi running for up to 8 hours, depending on usage and the number of connected devices.
This service is ideal for homes that rely on consistent connectivity for work, school, streaming, or smart home devices. It includes Advanced WiFi features like Security Shield (cyber threat protection), network management, and automatic speed boosting. It is available for $10/month more for current Advanced WiFi customers or those on 1 Gig or higher plans, and free with the 2 Gig Internet plan in eligible areas. Invincible WiFi is the only solution in the market that combines WiFi 7, automatic 5G failover with unlimited data, an 8-hour battery, and advanced security—all in one seamless, set-it-and-forget-it system
Looks like a new revenue stream that provides for an easy bolt on devise to their current router. They also package cell phone plans but I have not used that service.
FWIW, I have Mint Mobile cell phone plan that I buy annually. I use it for my internet if power and/or Spectrum service goes out. The cell phone can be set up for WIFI tethering and it works quite well but there can be download restrictions. |
