Last couple weeks I started building energy in the portfolio after doing a screen on the brokerages website to compare cash flow multiples. I selected OVV and BTE going heavier on OVV due to the gas production. Yesterday I moved some of the OVV money into a new position in DVN. I think the post merger cash flow multiple and debt level will be reasonable and I like the addition of the gas production from the merger. About 20 years ago I designed a six stage stainless steel compressor for Devon so I know the company exists. I did see the CEO from Coterra on Mad Money yesterday afternoon and did not hear anything that pulled my thinking in a different direction or cause me to worry about the CEO from Devon. The positions for OVV and DVN are about the same size in the portfolio for me, I think the cashflow multiple for OVV is a little lower than it is for DVN.

BTE sold a property recently and is in a net cash position on the balance sheet. I am not certain how the net cash position will be used yet. It looked like a safe starting point for a position.
