The odds of another Carrington Event happening in the next 50 years are infinitesimal

Really? Why didn't you preface that statement with "IMO (in my opinion)" rather than present it as fact, which it's not?

particularly compared to the odds of major damage and disruption caused by human-induced global warming.

That's also a statement of your opinion, not fact.

Keep your focus on phenomena we can do something about.

If you had bothered to read the full article at the link I provided, you'd have learned about steps that could be taken now to harden the grid. Cost effective steps. And steps that people more knowledgeable than you say that they needed to be taken now.

Even with preparation, many people won't survive a nationwide blackout lasting many weeks or months.

I encourage you to read the post at this link..

..to learn that Carrington Events are small change compared to past and future Miyake Events.

Read it. Learn some facts, and then come back here and talk about infinitesimal..

A minor increase in atmospheric CO2 levels won't kill you or anyone else, but a 9.0 Cascadia Zone earthquake just might, and a Carrington or larger solar event would for sure.
